BeautyTreats Lip Crayon

Hi Lovelies
Its  been quite awhile since I've posted anything, but its good to be back even if its for a short while..

I stopped of at Pennywise in POS to purchase a few items and came across some ladies checking out a few of the newer lip products, when I saw these BeautyTreats products thought why not ?

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Lip Crayon is a creamy lip color that provides a buildable coverage with a twist up core so it doesn’t require sharpening.

Lip Crayon comes in 6 creamy colors.

At $11.99, I thought it wouldn't hurt my pocket as much as paying TTD$40 or more for other similar products locally. So while there, I got to select from the four remaining colours, unfortunately I did not observe any name for the different shades..

So for the skin sensitive ladies..
Ingredients:
mineral oil, ceresine wax, beeswax, ethylhexyl palmate, mico crystalline wax, petrolatum, polybutene, propylparaben, methylparaben.

The product comes with each lip crayon wrapped in tamper proof  plastic, the wrapper also has the  printed product  ingredients. The product also has an expiry date, so for those that keep track its an added convenience.  When I opened the balm it had a sweet "candy" scent, and the product did apply smoothly and showed up nicely on my lips. As for longevity it does not stain your lips, but the colour do show well when applied, so retouches would be in order.
Opinion: its an affordable group of fun colours, that is easy to use and travel with, but if you're looking for longevity and possibly more variety you can check out the higher end brands.

Hoping your weekend goes well!

A glimpse of some Emancipation Paintings..

Hi Lovelies,
Yesterday in "Trinbago" (Trinidad & Tobago) Emancipation celebration was held..I did not attend, instead I spent part of the day at the mechanic and then had to rush off to work. So this is just a few photos I took the day before of the art art exhibition before the actual holiday celebration and thought I would share.(The only artist name I actually could make out was Jesus Revelo)
The photos  were taken with my phone and may not be the best quality ..

Note: The emancipation celebration this year started from the 21st July-31st July. Daily activities were held at the Queen's Park Savannah aka "Emancipation Village" by The Emancipation Support Committee until the final day celebration on the 31st. Facebook Page.

It's Friday,
Hope everyone has a great start to there weekend!

Beauty Treats - Chic Cheek & Lip

Hi Lovelies,
Its been awhile, I've been taking a closer look at my diet and I'm slowly trying to introduce healthier foods and life style changes that would be easy for me what pushed this agenda home for me was trying on a couple of my jeans and realising that what used to glide up easily up my legs to my waist has been proving to be a problem..like seriously. So hopefully with the changes I tried to make I will finally see some gradual improvement and changes. If I'm successful with it I'll include my progress in a very future post?!!

This week while at Pennywise in Tunapuna I came across these Beauty Treat Chic Cheek & Lip 2 in 1Color for lips and cheek since the local price was just TT$9.95 it was an easy purchase...
So it comes in a 3.6g/13oz compact which gives the expiry date at the back and it has four colours to choose from:
  • 01-Modish
  • 02-Swanky
  • 03-Elegant
  • 04-Stylish
Left to Right: Stylish, Elegant, Modish, Swanky

So according to their home page product description:-

"This creamy textured product will give color and lasting power on your lips or cheeks. Unlike your usual cream blush that has a luminous finish, this creamy texture has a matte finish. When applied to the lips, it becomes a matte color that stains the lips.

Cream blush leaves longer lasting power and hold on the skin especially when used with a powder blush on top.
Other than using it for the cheeks, cream blush has also been used for color on the lips and eyelids too.
Unlike other formulas, this one is made to be creamy when first applied but then dries matte. This allows the color to have longer wear time."

Left: 01-Modish, 02-Swanky,03-Elegant, 04-Stylish

So this is what it looks like in swatches on my arm, it really gives a dry/matte finish

01-Modish
02-Swanky
03-Elegant
04-Stylish
My Thoughts
On my skin, I felt it appeared very nude and gives a very light wash of colour, meaning it is pigmented but not so strongly that it would not blend easily. It did not appear or feel greasy on my skin. On my lips because it dries to give a matte finish it seems to highlight every crack and crevice, although I had applied vitamin E to my lips prior to putting the product on, I also really needed to use a lip liner for the colours that did not quite match my skin tone and could not apply the colour to heavily to my lips without it appearing to pasty. I preferred the colour 02 Swanky, but overall I think all the colours worked better as a blush than a lip colour. If you do choose it  for your lips then the process of exfoliating your lips with a lip scrub is strongly advised, moisturise and then apply, but wearing a similar colour lip gloss would give it  a smoother finish and nice wash of colour to the lips. Or it may be  even used as a lip base for a similar colour lipstick which would allow your lip colour to last well. I wore 02-Swanky around the house for the day and did not observe any staining.

Bye for now and hope everyone has a lovely weekend

A quick look at - Organix : moroccan argan oil

Hi Lovelies,
Just thought I'd give a quick input on my first experience with a non sulphate shampoo. Argan oil seems to be one of the "hottest" ingredients to have added to your hair products, several brands have brought out and some have reformulated their product lines to include this ingredient so  I thought why not give it a try..
just remember this is my experience on how it worked on my "kinky" "coily" hair.

So my obvious first step was the shampoo

this had a thick runny gel- like consistency, and I did not require much effort to build up a suds, when applied to wet hair. I've read of some non sulphate shampoo that don;t give much suds. But this felt to me like my regular shampoo and when rinsed out it was not "drying" or in other words my hair did not feel stripped.

I then applied my conditioner, which was very thick and somewhat creamy (had to struggle and squeeze the bottle to get the product out. It gave my hair slip, but not the kind I usually get with my Tresemme Conditioner   so my detangling/untangling of my hair with my "fake" denman brush was extremely gentle, nor did it seem to absorb much into my hair shaft, as you can see it seems to do more coating of the hair (above).

After detangling/untangling and rinsing my hair from the regular conditioner I applied the Intense Moisturising Treatment aka "deep conditioner" which was thick in consistency and "melted" or should I say it absorbed nicely into my hair. I then put on a plastic cap and sat under the dryer at medium setting for 30 minutes.
When I took off the cap, my hair felt soft, smooth and conditioned. I did not have any need to apply any extras, but you could if you wanted to.

Left: after deep conditioning treatment ; Right deep conditioning treatment rinsed out.
My Thoughts
The main deterrent for me would be the price, I find with this as well as most of the non-sulphate products you don't get much for the price. The regular conditioner would not last me much more than four uses because I do prefer to detange/untangle when my hair is wet and I needed to use quite a lot.
Shampoo and conditioner contains 385mls/13fl.oz. ;Intense Moisturising Treatment contains 237mls/8fl.oz.
The moisturising treatment was pretty good, but would probably give me two more treatment before it was finished. The scent is not flowery, fruity or musky it just reminds me of a man, maybe a sort of cologne/aftershave scent. Which really does not bother me because the scent is not over powering nor does it last after I've included my regular hair product which includes the Luster Scurl "no drip" activator moisturiser that I've been trying out (the old formulation).  I don't really like purchasing shampoo/conditioner products every month because it messes with my budget. Especially where I have been making strong efforts to build a savings. Overall what I used, was a fairly good product and for those who don't have my concerns its not a bad buy.

Nicka K Lip Color

Above: Panama City; Below : Siesta key

Hi Lovelies,
This is just a closer look at the lip gloss I purchased recently, I've used Nicka K lip gloss before, but would usually purchase them from a co-worker who sells a few cosmetic items at the side, unfortunately we no longer work at the same department or area so its been harder to get in touch and I'm generally not to fussy...
Anyway, when I came across these while at the hair shop I was pretty excited about the the unusual packaging, and knowing that the pigmentation on the Nicka K glosses are very good I just thought I would try these two.

Below is a look at a Super Lip Shimmer in # 12 that I had previously..

The above was obviously a squeeze tube, but the ones below have a doe foot applicator

Left: Panama city ; Right : Siesta key

I like the fact that it does not feel greasy on my lips and I figure its good as a lightweight wear for casual days at the beach or everyday wear. Its a nice lip gloss, and for some supposedly moisturising, I still recommend using a natural lip butter (I used some mango butter ) with a sun screen because this has no SPF and the first two products on its ingredient list do contain Petrolatum, Paraffinum Liquidum, then Lanolin...
The Siesta key has fine glitter and you do feel it on your lips, but the Panama city has a smoother feel on your lips. I did go back to re-purchase more but most of the bright colours were already sold out.
As far as pigmentation and packaging goes I like this product, as for ingredients its not really "green" friendly.
So if you've ever come across these glosses, this is just a closer look at them..

Happy mid week!

Small Haul ;c)

Hi Lovelies
been somewhat slow with my post, but I've also been feeling a little under the weather, so last Thursday while in Port of Spain, I just happened across this this new beauty supplies store, (meaning it is new to me. lol.) and kind of stepped in quickly while on my way to meet a friend..who had to call me after awhile when I did not show up at the appointed meeting place on time..
(the store is on lower Henry Street obliquely opposite the "drag mall")
It similar to a lot of the other beauty supplies in that they have varying types of wigs..

But it was pretty cool finding some of these make stuff also, the NYX you'd find at Wonderful World,  but the Nicka K was something I usually bought from a friend at work, and annabay1989 mentioned Sassilicious in a recent vid, but I'm certainly enjoying the factor that a few of these harder to find drugstore brand are becoming more easily available locally..
I'm especially enjoying Bellezza Bee higher end finds at Starlite Pharmacy

Have an enjoyable weekend everyone !!

Beauty Treats BB Cream

Hi Lovelies
I saw this Beauty Treats Blemish Balm at the makeup counter while in Pennywise stocking up on a few essential items, what really caught my eyes was the price tag of TTD$24.95 The beauty balm craze have been around in the eastern countries for awhile and has only filtered down to our little isle when US companies started marketing their own version of the product around early spring last year, perhaps before.. but now you are actually able to get it in a few more shades.
I enjoy You tube, and as for those beauty gurus experiencing spring, they are including it as a staple product for their spring to summer months because of its lightweight capabilities along with bronzers of course..

There Beauty Treats version comes only available in four shades:

So I was a little uneasy about making a purchase, both because of the colour selection as well as to me it was always geared for those with dry skin. But I've got a few powders that are a shade darker, so maybe one of them would work to top it off, and then I read its product description..

Darkest shade is Butterscotch

"BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm, is an all-in-one cream that offers the benefits of makeup and skincare in one easy step. With one application, this multi-benefit product primes, tints, nourishes, smoothes and protects the skin. It hydrates to maintain healthy moisture for a fresh look, while preventing oils and diminishing the appearance of pores, fine lines, and uneven skin tones.
 All-in-one moisturizer, primer, and foundation

Creates a smooth finish and evens out skin tone

Suitable for all types of skin and skin tones"

This was my result:

So overall my thoughts on this Beauty Treats BB Cream
  • It felt light weight on my skin
  • It gives very light coverage but can be built up a bit.
  • Has a creamy texture
  • There was a slight white cast (remember its a shade or two lighter than my skin tone) but when topped with my L'oreal True Match powder it blended well.
  • My pores looked a little less noticeable than when I used the moisturiser only.
  • While at work (which is a non air conditioned environment) my look lasted well for at least three hours.
  • It did not leave my skin feeling greasy.
  • It did not irritate my skin.

Ingredients
Water,Isopropyl Palmitate, Propylene Glycol Isostearate, Jojoba Oil, Bees Wax, Candelilla wax, Carnauba Wax, Sorbitan Oleate, Hyaluronic Acid...

May contain: Yellow Iron Oxide (CI77492),
                       Red Iron Oxide (CI74491),
                       Black Iron Oxide (CI77499)

Never tested on animals
Discontinue use if irritation occurs

Note: this did not contain any SPF as you can check in the ingredients list above, it also seemed to work as a tinted primer, there are other BB cream with much more helpful feature in there ingredient listing that you can try,but it works okay for what it says it does its one major downfall for me is its colour range is still limited for darker women, but its price point and ingredients which seemed a bit more "green"/ people friendly suited my pockets  very well.

For General Knowledge
Besides functioning as a lightweight  foundation, Blemish Balm Cream really gained in popularity due to some very helpful ingredients they would contain, such as

Hair Journey Update..

Hi Lovelies,
I have been missing in action for a while, had some intense time keeping up with studies and exam, after which I chose to just rock back, slow down and just give myself a rest from functioning.
So just thought I would step in and give a small update on my hair this really should have been posted last month end.. :(
Decided to try on the same top to see if there was a
noticeable growth to last year..seems the same, just
a little fuller.
In the month of March I began taking vitamins to aid with my hair growth but I wandered off that pathway after about  two weeks and something, but I did see some progress with my nails (as you could probably see in my previous post my nails got pretty looong) but life has a way of creating its own plans and priorities of what is of most importance...
Ends looks dryer, and in need of a trim..
Each strand of hair or hair follicle has a life cycle which may differs from its neighboring strand, but they all do eventually go through the three stages or cycles.

The three (3) cycles are:
  1. Anagen - Growth Cycle
  2. Catagen - Transitional Cycle
  3. Telogen - Resting/Shedding Cycle
Anagen
In this phase the hair strand has continuous growth which can last between 3 to 6 years. On average it can grow approximately 1/2 inch  per month but the rate and time  period upon which hair grows can vary from person to person, the growth period is usually determined by genetics.

Catagen
This is the in between stage where the hair follicle prepares itself for the resting stage and this transitional state can last between 1 to 3 weeks. There is no growth, during this time, the part of the hair follicle that is embedded in the scalp surrounded by a root sheath begins to shrink up to 1/6 its former size and the strand though still embedded in the scalp is separated from the roots this is the beginning of the formation of the white bulb we usually see when the hair eventually sheds.

Telogen
This is the official resting phase and can last three to four months (this can be easily seen in some women who experience post partum shedding a few months later after giving birth). At the end of this resting phase the hair then begins to shed as new growth pushes its way out to the surface and replaces the lost hair follicles.

So why this digression..the month of April 2013 is my fifth year of hair growth and my hair to me hasn't budged in growth by much, though I've seen growth in some areas of my hair, mainly the sides. My hair usually grows fastest at the back and slower at the front, added to the fact I recently trimmed close to 2 - 3 inches off the front my hair due to heat damage. I don't flat iron my hair much, but when I do it usually reverts very fast to the front and I broke my own rules by flat ironing my hair at the maximum heat setting of 450F, and passed it more than twice this  gave me straight ends which did not look good when styled in twist...sigh!

Anyway, I've been noticing long strands coming out on my wash days, most of which has the white bulb at the end, so I'm assuming I'm experiencing the telogen stage (between resting & shedding). So I did trim the ends of my hair but,I'm thinking of cutting a little higher closer to shoulder length so that my hair could grow in fuller and much more even and I do plan to restart my extra vitamin intake and get back on my elliptical..need to increase my cardio work out to speed up my metabolism..my arms and upper are not looking right!
Just felt this post would be worth sharing hope it helps someone...

Note
On our scalp and through out our entire body where hair grows, we can be experiencing any of the above  cycles during our daily life, approximately 90% of the hair is in the anagen cyle, less than 1% is in the catagen cycle and approximately 10% is in the telogen cycle

Have A Blessed Weekend Everyone!

Love Me 365 - Jumbo Twist Stick

Hi my Lovelies,
I think that I'm in lurrv...
At least, I'm in love with this jumbo twist pencils I found at Wonderful World this week, the concentration of pigmentation in the Love Me 365 Jumbo Twist Stick is a "tad" less when I compared to my L.A. Colors, but the twist up base makes it rock for me, (in other words it's totally convenient)!!
So there's no sharpening or De-potting <33

Left to Right: CREAM CHARCOAL.CREAM AQUA, CREAM BROWN, CREAM GREEN

The Jumbo Twist Stick comes in 12 colours and on the KleanColor site it cost USD$1.99 , I purchased mine locally for TTD$15. and was only able to get these colors at the time.. Cream Charcoal.Cream  Aqua, Cream Brown, and Cream Green. It has the dual function of working as as an eye shadow or eyeliner..I prefer it as a base or eyeliner, for me it would not last to long as an eyeshadow and when I checked online it unfortunately does not come in white.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
While looking around I also came across their Love Me 365 - California Sun Kissed Bronzer in 401 Sol, cost USD$2.99(locally TTD$15.) with its cute cartoon silhouette that reminded me of those BRATZ doll...yea so I believe this specific bronzer is definitely geared to a younger crowd!
Note: the Love Me 365 is a brand that is distributed by KleanColor

For myself, I've not really played around much with bronzers but, I did think that I might try the Covergirl Bronzer in the Queen Collection but haven't come across it so far. In this particular compact, the brown gives my skin a light shimmer and would work well as a highlighter for an evening dinner as for the gold its not as loud as you would think from just looking at it, besides its just a surface colour which disappear from the compact after a few uses...

It comes in three shades:- Sol, Estrella, Luna and the Sol was the darkest of the trio. It does blend nicely and leaves no harsh, chunky glittery appearance that is difficult to remove from your skin...
..Its lovely..

Have a Blessed Weekend Everyone!

L.A. Colors Lip Gloss - jellie, shimmer, sparkle..

L to R: sprinkle,tangy,juicy,nude,sparkling..

Hello again Lovlies,
The month of April has come to an end,
and Wonderful World is having a semi annual sale, around this time you can get handbag ,hats, scarves, costume jewelry and other cosmetic accessories as well as in some branches lingerie items at discounted prices...for me it was time for stocking up on bras.
So while fluttering around the store I came across these "pretty" looking lip glosses and thought I would try a few, they cost TTD$10. which is the usual price for most lower end lip gloss in T&T, below is a look at how they swatch..

L to R: sprinkle,tangy,juicy,nude,sparkling..

According to the description at L.A Colors they are supposed to give..

"NATURAL SHINE
LIGHT SWEET SCENT
SILKY SMOOTH APPLICATION

Jellie, Shimmer, and Sparkle lip gloss leaves lips with a soft natural shine. Sticky free formula with a light sweet scent glistens lips with a burst of colour. Discover your favourite shade for every mood!"

This is how they showed up on my lips..
CLG 993 SPRINKLE
CLG 987 TANGY
CLG 979 JUICY
CLG 983 NUDE
CLG 997 SPARKLING
My Thoughts
Pros:

  • The gloss was definitely not sticky and did not at any time feel gritty on the lips ( especially the shimmers and sparkle).
  • The scent reminded me of bubble gum, the kind that had the syrup flavoured centre (just can't remember the name..), which I personally liked.
  • It did leave my lips feeling moisturised.

Cons

  • The packaging was simple and the flowers are stickers that will eventually peel off with continued use and while opening the sprinkle gloss the cap along with the base lifted up when twisting to  close
  •  The colours I got were pretty nice but not strongly pigmented at least not on my lips.
This is an item that is new to L.A Colors lip gloss collection and is probably geared towards teenagers,or makeup beginners, but would also suit ladies that like the simple look of lip glosses at an affordable price. For my use, I like this.. its not the best buy on the market but it is not a fail either!

Anyway hope everyone is having a great week
toodles!
